Mussels

Field station for the monitoring of shell movements of mussels

Brief Description

This is a short term project involving the analysis of data collected from mussels at aquaculture farms. The main goal of this project is to study how the frequency of openings of mussels correlates with events like algae blooms. The scientific hypothesis is that monitoring these beahviour of these mussel openinings can serve as a kind of biosentinel for algae blooms.
