Ramon Filgueira is an assistant professor in the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University and he also holds a 20% Professorship position (Tier II) at the Institute of Marine Research in Bergen (Norway). His interdisciplinary research focuses on aquaculture, ranging from fundamental to applied topics, with special emphasis on the use of ecosystem modelling to inform aquaculture management and practices. His work on scenario analysis and the integration of resilience thinking into management decisions has been recognized by Fisheries and Oceans Canada with the award of the Prix d’Excellence in 2015, DFO’s most prestigious award. Ramón has co-authored 57 journal articles and 5 book chapters (h-index 21), with 5 additional articles currently under review. Since his recent appointment at Dalhousie (2016), he has completed the supervision/co-supervision of 9 master students, and he is currently supervising/co-supervising 11 highly qualified personnel.
